Course Description

This course is designed to help students effectively prepare for the CASAS Reading Assessment, a key evaluation used to measure reading proficiency in real-world contexts. The course focuses on developing essential reading skills that align with the CASAS competencies, including understanding written information, analyzing main ideas and details, interpreting graphics and charts, and making inferences. Students will engage in practice exercises that mirror CASAS test questions, such as reading passages, informational texts, instructions, and workplace documents.

Course Objectives:
1. Improve reading comprehension by identifying main ideas, supporting details, and summarizing passages.
2. Develop the ability to make logical inferences and draw conclusions based on written information.
3. Learn strategies to effectively analyze and interpret visual information like charts, tables, graphs, and diagrams.
4. Enhance vocabulary knowledge to better understand and respond to workplace and everyday reading materials.
5. Build confidence and test-taking strategies to successfully navigate the CASAS reading test format.

Throughout the course, students will receive personalized feedback and targeted practice based on their progress. Lessons are designed with interactive activities to keep students engaged and motivated. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the skills, strategies, and confidence needed to excel in the CASAS Reading Assessment and apply these skills in real-world situations.
