Library. People and snacks. Must be quiet and engaged.
Meet local political candidates!
From Marissa Wilson:
I just wanted to give a heads-up (and extend an invite) for a Horizonte Candidate forum this Wednesday, October 23. I am still waiting on confirmation from a few candidates, but the plan is to host the Q&A in the lecture hall starting at 10:00 followed by refreshments in the library for students to speak with candidates more informally.
Government students have been learning about the statewide offices and will be excused from their classes to attend (though I have them all 2nd and 3rd period, so it should be minimal disruption), Aliyah has been helping to coordinate and will have her advisory students attending, and Janice is helping host and plans to bring students from the adult program.
If you are interested in having your classes attend, let me know! Or, if you know a student who would be interested who is not in any of the classes listed above, they are also welcome to join. The more the merrier—just let me know and we will be sure to get them excused!
Here are the confirmed candidates (though I am hoping to get one or two more with last minute reminders that went out today 🤞):
-
Rudy Bautista (Attorney General)
-
Catherine Voutaz (State Auditor)
-
Grant Miller (House District 24)
-
Richard Nowak (House District 25)
-
Kyle Erb (Senate District 10)
