The U.S.-Mexican War was a turning point in the growth of the United States. This war was caused by a border dispute and the annexation of Texas was fought over a vast territory from the heart of Mexico to northern California. With the lands gained from this war and the Gadsden Purchase, many Americans felt that their dream of Manifest Destiny had been fulfilled.
